The Global Energy Prize is one of the most prestigious international prizes, awarded for outstanding scientific achievements in energy industry which have proven to be useful for the whole humanity. The Prize was established in 2002. The idea of the Prize was set forth by the group of famous Russian scientists, was supported by the biggest energy providers, and was approved by the President of Russia. The President of the Russian Federation takes part in the annual Awarding Ceremony.

The logo of the Global Energy Prize reflects several key ideas which are very important for the new international scientific award visual image. The styled image of a person, straining after the stars, as a symbol of something unknown and new, became the core and the basis of the logo composition. Besides, the star is associated with such concepts as victory and high quality. A number of stars represents both energy and achievements within the industry. The figure of the person in this case embodies the humanity's intentions to develop new power supplies which allow a progress to be developed and to activate further discoveries. The person striking the stars (this is the working title of the logo) is a symbol of the humanity's dreams about future, new discoveries and titanic work for the benefit of civilization in energetics. The red color is a focused expression of energy and fire. Besides, the red stars are definitely associated with Russia which provides a glimpse on the background of the Prize; whereas it is Russia that is regarded as the originator of the award. Also the project included the design of the award set and diploma given to nominees.
